For those of you who follow along on my personal accounts, you know I just got back from the absolute trip of a lifetime, the Olympics!
After attending the Paris 2024 Olympics, my friends and I half-jokingly said, “See you in Milan…” and somehow, that joke turned into reality. We spent time in Milan and in the mountain towns of Bormio and Livigno, it was pure magic.
There may have been less painting happening over the past couple of weeks… but the inspiration has been flowing.
Travel always does that for me. New landscapes, new light, unfamiliar architecture, mountains layered in mist. I was constantly slowing everyone down to take “just one more photo.” (I regret nothing.)
Those quiet moments of observation, the way light hits snow, the way rooftops stack into the hills, they stay with me long after I unpack my suitcase. I can already tell this trip will make its way onto my canvas.
If you love following the evolution of a painting from travel to finished piece, keep an eye on my website. I’ll be sharing new works inspired by Italy soon.

SHE:DC — Women’s History Month Show
I’m also thrilled to share that I’ve been accepted into SHE:DC, a March exhibition celebrating Women’s History Month. Three of my paintings were selected:
- Two will be shown at the Dupont pop-up location
- One will be exhibited in Georgetown
I’m incredibly honored to be included in this show alongside so many talented women artists.
If you’re local to DC, I would absolutely love to see you at one of the receptions. More information about dates and locations can be found here.
What’s on the Easel
With winter still lingering in DC, I’ve been leaning into moody skies, soft light, and quiet landscapes in the studio. There’s something about this season that invites reflection and rich color.
If you’ve been considering adding an original piece to your home, now is a wonderful time to browse. I’ve updated the website with available works, and pieces are ready to ship.
Original paintings don’t just fill a wall, they carry the energy of the place and moment they were created. If a painting speaks to you, trust that feeling.
Thank you for being here, whether you’ve been following for years or just joined this list. Your support makes these adventures (and the paintings that come from them) possible.
More soon… and maybe next time, from a snow-covered Italian hillside.
Warmly, Katie

We saw freestyle skiing halfpipe and aerials in Livigno. These athletes are truly incredible!
